Talimena Scenic Byway
Route 66 - Oklahoma
From the Northeast corner of Oklahoma, travel old Route 66 across the state and out the western border.  Oklahoma has done a better job than all the other states keeping the old road in tact and drivable.  A myriad of old 66 relics, hot spots, tourist attractions etc. A great ride!
From Talihina, Oklahoma follow highway 1 through the Ouachita National Forest on the crest of Winding Stair Mountain and Rich Mountain to Mena, Arkansas enjoying the panaramic views from every turn in the twisty road.

While on State Hwy 82 pulling into Peggs turn south on CR -N4420, which is the only country road going due south out of Peggs.  Ride 14 miles of great scenic country roads turning quickly to wooded twisty roads and pass thru Lost City and wind your way to Hulbert.  Make a right on hwy 51 for about a quarter mile then turn south on the state hwy 80 also affectionately called "14 Mile Road".  On one of the many occasions I have slipped away on this lonely road I counted 103 turns in its 14 miles.  Beautiful wooded campgrounds below the Dam with full hook ups, ie water, electric, showers.  Campground is surrounded by Grand River below the dam on one side and beatiful wooded bluffs on west side giving great shade from the afternoon sun.  The campground is called
